AMCHAM Myanmar Appoints New President

On December 21, 2017, the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (AMCHAM Myanmar) have appointed Rehan Khan, General Manager, Coca-Cola Myanmar as new President to lead the Chamber in 2018.

Prior to his current role, Rehan was Business Development Director for Coca-Cola Thailand and ASEAN business unit. Within his 25 years of work experience in The Coca-Cola Company, Rehan has held various roles of increasing responsibility in several markets across Asia and Europe; in General Management, Marketing, Business Development, Innovation and Strategic Planning. His extensive experience within The Coca-Cola Company encompasses a good mix of developing and developed markets. In his 25 years with The Coca-Cola Company, he has lived and worked in Thailand, Indonesia, UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Pakistan and now Myanmar. Rehan is also on the advisory council of DeBoer Fellowship, and a member of Young Presidents’ Organization. Rehan holds a Master in Business Administration from Kellogg Business School and The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.

Rehan has been a member of the AMCHAM Myanmar Executive Committee since 2014. He prioritizes advocacy and corporate social responsibility as key objectives for the AMCHAM Myanmar. Rehan said, “AMCHAM Myanmar, the voice of American business in Myanmar, will continue promoting trade and investments between Myanmar and the U.S., and engaging with the Myanmar government to ensure that Myanmar’s economy continues to grow. By applying the highest universal business principles, the American businesses will continue to be responsible investors in Myanmar.”

Four additional officers serve alongside Rehan. Arturo Planell, Country Manager of Visa Worldwide, and Mark Hardcastle, Country Manager of Chevron Myanmar, both serve as Vice Presidents. Khin Maung Win, Chairman and Managing Director of Myan Shwe Pyi Tractors, takes the position of Treasurer; and William Greenlee, Managing Director of DFDL Myanmar, assumes the role of Secretary.

The other newly elected members of the AMCHAM Myanmar Board of Governors are Andrew Lee, Chief Country Representative of General Electric; Chan Han, CEO of Han Golf Masters; Chris Manley, Group Country Manager of RMA Myanmar; Hari Achuthan, Managing Director and CEO of ACO Investment Group; May Myat Mon Win, General Manager of Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon; and Zaw Moe Khine, Chairman and CEO of Pacific Alpine Myanmar.

The Coca-Cola Company is the world’s largest beverage company operating in more than 200 countries. It has proudly produced beverages locally in Myanmar since June 2013. Over the past four-and-a-half years, Coca-Cola has made substantial investments of more than $200 million in new production lines, facilities, cold drink equipment, products and people development and will continue to invest. The Coca-Cola system in Myanmar directly employs more than 1,600 people locally and prioritizes the development of employees by rolling out comprehensive capability building programs across all departments, providing more than 200,000 hours of learning and development training in 2017. In the community, Coca-Cola is partnering with the NGO Pact on a women’s empowerment initiative called Swan Yi, which has reached more than 37,000 women in Myanmar through capacity building and loan-based savings training. In addition, Coca-Cola provides business skills training for SMEs and small business owners through the Coca-Cola ‘Leht Li’ Business Skills Training program in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Ministry of Industry’s Department of SME Development.
