John (Jay) Martin is a Myanmar-based Exploration and Mining professional, having served in multiple roles in the industry for the past twelve years. He specializes in identifying prospective areas, securing mineral rights, and executing mineral exploration programs in remote areas of Burma. He currently serves as Senior Resource Industry Consultant at MSP Co. in Yangon, where he oversees mineral exploration efforts related to copper, antimony and other critical minerals. Before that he served as Managing Director of Access Resources Asia, the Myanmar subsidiary of Australian-owned Access Asia Mining, based in Singapore. In this role, Mr. Martin was responsible for the planning and execution of all gold exploration programs in the Golden Triangle area of Myanmar, including geochemistry, geophysics and drilling. He was also responsible for Myanmar Government and Community Relations, including extensive liaison with Myanmar government officials at the Union, Region and Township levels. Prior to this, Mr. Martin was Myanmar Country Manager for Wuntho Resources Co. Ltd., the Myanmar subsidiary of PanAust, a Chinese-owned, Australia based copper and gold producer with producing assets in Lao PDR and exploration assets in Sagaing Region, Myanmar. In this role, he was responsible for all non-technical aspects of PanAust’s copper exploration program in Myanmar, including Government Relations, Community Engagement, Site Support and Business Development. Mr. Martin holds a B.S. from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and an M.A. from University of Colorado Boulder. He has served as both Vice-President of AmCham and President of the International Investors for Minerals Development Association (IIMDA) based in Yangon.
