This event is open to members only.Booking deadline: Aug 12, 4 pm*Limited seats, book now!About the speakersCharge d’Affairs George SibleyGeorge Sibley assumed his duties as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of the Union of Burma on July 31, 2017. Previously he served at the U.S. Embassy New Delhi from 2013-2017 as the Minister Counselor for Economic, Environment, Science and Technology Affairs, and as the U.S. Co-Chair of the U.S.-India Science and Technology Endowment Fund (USISTEF). Mr. Sibley joined the Foreign Service in 1988 and is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. Before arriving in New Delhi, Mr. Sibley was Director of the Office of Environmental Quality and Transboundary Issues, at the U.S. Department of State. Prior to that assignment Mr. Sibley served a year in Iraq as the Senior Advisor for Northern Iraq and as the Team Leader of Provincial Reconstruction Team Ninewa, following two years as the Director of the Office of Iraq Political Affairs at the Department of State. He previously served as Consul General in Kolkata, India from 2002-2005. Mr. Sibley received a B.A. in biology and religious philosophy from Oberlin College in 1977. In 2002 he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Policy, in the field of international relations, following a year as a John L. Weinberg Fellow at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, he served 11 years in the merchant marine, obtaining a Limited Master/Unlimited Chief Mate’s license.Consular Chief Long NguyenLong Nguyen joined the Foreign Service in 2004 and has served as a consular officer in Manila, Vancouver, Vientiane, and Jakarta where he oversaw visa, passport and emergency citizen services, and led crisis responses including air crash, natural disasters, and terrorist attacks. He has also served in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research in Washington. Prior to joining the State Department, Long worked as a data analyst in San Francisco and as a public relations consultant in Hanoi. He received his bachelor’s in international economics from Georgetown University and his masters in strategy and operational planning from National Defense University. Long speaks Lao, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Tagalog. Long is married to Terrie and they have one daughter, Ariya.
