FAKE POLICY INFRINGEMENT SCAM ALERTS | MCM2023

Don’t be alarmed if you receive a notice stating that your Facebook account has been suspended due to a copyright violation. This is the latest and most common Facebook phishing scam that’s been gaining traction recently. Take your time and follow these steps before following the prompt to "appeal within 24 hours" or other suspicious instructions:

  • Check the sender’s profile or email before clicking on links. Facebook is unlikely to send messages in chat box, or notifications from non-Facebook email domains.
  • If unsure, contact Facebook directly instead of using links provided by others.
  • Check for strange mistakes, bad grammar, and typos and assume any message containing them is suspicious.
  • Do stay vigilant for signs of fake messages.
